THE CHALLENGE
Creating the brand identity for Lunga Eatery & Coffee presented several challenges, starting with selecting a name that resonated with its values. Another key challenge was developing a strategy to shift the mindset of Denpasar’s audience, convincing them that they can enjoy a Seminyak-like ambiance right in their city at Lunga. Additionally, positioning Lunga as a prime meeting spot for young people required emphasising a fun, relaxing, engaging, simple, and bold atmosphere. Ensuring the brand conveyed both good food and an inviting ambiance was crucial to the overall identity.
BRANDING
The process of creating the brand identity for Lunga Eatery & Coffee began with finding a positive name that can represent the true spirit of the brand. The name “Lunga,” which is derived from the South African language meaning “Be Good.” Using the strong essence of the name, we crafted a wordmark logo using the according to the font used, namely Poppins. Extending the name’s meaning, we adopted the tagline “Be Good, Be Kind,” ensuring the brand’s core values were clearly communicated in all mediums.
At the same time, to shift the audience’s mindset in Denpasar, we developed a strategy that focused on a simple, bold, and minimalist approach, presenting fun and engaging elements through brand colors and typography. The brand identity was executed simply, with a distinctive twist to the letter “U” to convey a fun and bold impression.
RESULTS
The essence of Lunga Eatery & Coffee, based on the meaning “Be Good,” was designed to be clearly understood and reflected in all brand elements. The focus on quality food and beverages further emphasized the brand’s commitment to goodness, ensuring that every aspect of the customer experience aligned with the “Be Good, Be Kind“ philosophy.
